The Squadron had a chance to support our sister RAF Squadron recently at their unveiling of the 216 Squadron RAF Memorial at the Nation Memorial Arboretum.
Our unit has had a strong connection with 216 Squadron RAF for a number of years, having had the chance to visit RAF Brize Norton on numerous occasions when the Squadron flew Tristars. It was therefore only right that we helped in the unveiling of the 216 Squadron memorial at the National Memorial Arbouretum in Staffordshire.
The cadets helped marshal the guests and took part in the unveiling service at the memorial. The memorial was created by sculptor Mathew Lane Sanderson, and stands proud in the RAF garden.
In 2014, 216 Squadron RAF was disbanded. It was reformed again on 1st April 2020 as an experimental drone swarm unit, based out of RAF Waddington.
