Coronavirus (COVID-19) & the Squadrons continuing operation

Posted on April 10th, 2020 by WO Lyons

Due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) the Squadrons and wider Air Cadets has decided to cancel all face-to face air cadet and staff events currently planned to take place between now and 31 Aug 20.  This aligns with Government direction to restrict non-essential activity.

The situation is constantly developing, and the Air Cadets and it’s staff will respond according, at appropriate times. Parents and guardians can read the latest letter from Commandant Air Cadets, here.

This doesn’t however mean the Squadron has stopped operating. As a unit, we are keen to deliver the best possible cadet experience we can, until normal operation can resume. We have begun to run virtual parade nights for cadets, so far having hosted an NCO meeting, Field craft and First Aid theory lessons with things such as Cyber courses, classification training and much more on the horizon. We want to keep as many cadets as we can connected, so they may return when normal operations resume.

The next few months will be a challenge for everyone, but we hope, that by continuing to operate, our cadets will still have access to the world class organisation that we are. If anyone wishes the contact the Squadron you can do so by emailing us.

We wish you all the best, and look forward to seeing the Squadron back on parade soon.
