A fantastic end to months of training saw 216 (Redditch) Squadron attending Wing Field Day at the weekend, coming away with 2nd overall!
The day saw the Squadron compete against all of the other units in the Wing at RAF Cosford. We saw a number of successes, one of which being CWO Hudson & Sgt McMullan coming 1st in the Flight Sim competition, retaining the trophy from 2017. The Squadron came 2nd in the overall shooting competition, 1st in the cadet photography competition and 1st in the staff photography competition. Cdt Reynolds also came 2nd in the individual model competition.
The Squadron saw success in the foot drill competitions as 2nd Smartest Squadron, 3rd in Continuity and 3rd in the Banner Party competition. CWO Hudson came joint 1st as Best NCO IC for drill, and the Squadron retained the Foot Drill trophy, coming 1st!
The Squadron also received the Worcestershire Aircrew Association Trophy for most improved Squadron in Worcestershire, based on training achievement, collaboration and more. This also saw us coming 3rd in the Wing Efficiency Trophy; based on highest training scores across the year.
To top it all off, our own OC, Sqn Ldr Cheston was presented her first clasp for her Cadet Forces Medal by the Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire for 18 years of service to the Air Cadets!
Well done #team216, and here’s looking forward to Regional Field Day!
